USDM GT-R Pre Orders Available – Nissan Attempts To Prevent Price Gouging

February 7, 2008

As the Nissan GT-R pre-orders begin Nissan has released details on the steps it is taking to prevent excessive markups from overzealous Nissan dealers.

“We are taking steps to let the dealers know that marking up the car is not a good thing … We’re trying to take steps to curb excessive markups.” – Nissan North America Spokesman Darryll Harrison.

All GT-R sales will need to be finalised by the dealer principal at the dealership and passed up to Nissan North America along with the order so that Nissan can vet sale prices and “counsel” dealers where required.

When GT-R sales begin in June the final price for the base model is said to be $69,850USD + destination charge and $71,900USD + destination charge for the premium model. While Nissan is at least attempting to stop the price gouging, many are still expecting GT-Rs to be sold well over MSRP.
