Transformers Alternity Convoy Nissan GT-R Model Arrives – GTRBlog Review

March 2, 2009

The Alternity Convoy GT-R comes in Ultimate Silver and Vibrant Red and of the two colours the Silver is a winner in terms of paint finish. The metallic paint has a consistent finish over the whole model. The red isn’t a bad paint job either, but it’s semi-gloss and in some places isn’t up to the standard of the silver.

Where the red gets better however is when you transform into robot mode. Personally I don’t remember Optimus Prime ever being silver! Red all the way in robot mode. Once transformed the minor paint imperfections are suddenly hidden when the panels are broken up by robotic limbs and torso.

On that basis alone I recommend the red. If you own an Ultimate Silver GT-R though, you really should be getting the Ultimate Silver one to match.

Priced at 4,500 yen it’s fairly cheap really, you can pay a lot more for a quality die cast model with amazing accuracy but you don’t get the same out of one of those static display models. Put this on your shelf next to your Godzilla model and your nephews will love you next time they’re over as well.

Overall? Highly recommended!
