The AKA rally is a annual run from New York to Las Vegas with stops at race tracks along the way. Lots of fun for contestants and lots of great cars enter. This year, veteran AKA Rally entrant “BamBam” and his Team JDM Envy has entered his brand new Nissan R35 GT-R. Not without trepidation he intends to find out exactly how good the GT-R is and, if needed, how responsive Nissan is if there are any problems.

They’ve got a AKA Rally GTR blog going over at AKArally.com but we’ll also be keeping you up to date on all the nitty gritty GT-R related details as the buildup and rally goes on.

So far they’ve taken delivery of the car, got the graphics on, got the car protected with a clear bra and have chosen the … ahem… electronic countermeasures device for the inevitable speed trap.

The AKA Rally begins August 18th and runs to August 25th and will be filmed by SPEED TV to be aired as a six part series later in the year.
