Forged Performance Announce the VR38 FP1 Short Block for Nissan GT-R

April 21, 2010 Comments off

It keeps getting more interesting in the built VR38 world with another newly announced complete, built, short block hitting the market in a big way. This time hailing from much closer to home for many of you, Marietta GA, comes the Forged Performance VR38 FP1 short block for Nissan GT-R.

The Forged Performance FP1 Shortblock strengthens the GT-R engine for maximum reliable power! We start with a BRAND NEW VR38 block casting, and all new OEM parts. The OEM rods and pistons are replaced with Pauter forged rods, and our own spec Arias Extreme Duty pistons. The block is precision CNC machined to accept a new cast iron cylinder liner. The cast iron liner allows for the long term reliability and exceptional strength when running forged pistons at very high power levels. The is the same proven strategy used in numerous 1500whp+ builds in the exotic car world. After the liners are fitted the cylinder walls are bored and honed to .0001 tolerance and the block is decked flat. The liners are purposely left .001 above the deck for headgasket seating and block expansion purposes. This block is engineered to handle 1000whp+ easily.

Specifications

  • Brand New VR38 OEM Block and Crankshaft
  • Pauter 4340 Billet Connecting Rods w/ ARP Rod Bolts

JRZ RS Pro Silent Edition Suspension for GT-R from Forged Performance

April 15, 2010 Comments off

JRZ has established a solid reputation for quality suspension that works extremely well on the GT-R at the track. While the suspension is also great for street GT-Rs some users experience a noisier than expected ride due to the use of solid top mounts. This user feedback has been taken and JRZ are now announcing a new version of the RS Pro suspension known as the RS Pro Silent Edition.

By combining the track proven goodness of the JRZ race suspension and the OEM top mounts you can get a ideal high performance trackday/circuit use suspension without sacrificing streetability.

Some of the features of the RS Pro suspension are:

  • 22mm rod strut, 16mm rod damper
  • Mono tube
  • Double Adjustable Rebound and Compression
  • Precision CNC Machined Top Mount Adapter
  • Adjustable gas pressure
  • Piston sized for high performance
  • Street compliance valving
  • Precise canister
  • Large adjustment range
  • Fixed hoses for easy mounting
  • Steel piggyback

Here’s a bit more information direct from the announcement/release:

The RS Pro has a remote canister with a progressive blow off system. Progressive blow off allows for a stiff compression valving while maintaining smooth response. The result is a damper that provides ultra solid platform with smooth bump compliance. The JRZ standard large 22mm piston rod works in concert to maximize blow off valve response to great chassis control without using a high spring rate in strut applications. In damper applications the piston rod diameter is 16mm to achieve a balance between ride and control. The monotube design makes use of our unique RS Pro piston. By moving more fluid than our standard clubsport damper, the RS Pro achieves a higher level of chassis control. To customize track to track setups and tailor the chassis to the JRZ RS Pro has an extra large adjustment range. Each adjustment is designed to be an even step giving you predictability when making changes. JRZ clubsport dampers are designed to give the chassis tuner ultimate control.

Benefits

The design of the RS Pro takes you to the next level. Stiffer cars with higher levels of power demand the control JRZ can supplies. With the control of gas pressure charge as well and compression and rebound adjustments, the RS Pro will get the most out of your high performance car. The JRZ RS Pro is shipped as a bolt on kit with installation instructions and always comes with our world renowned personal service JRZ.
Recommended applications:

  • Highly modified Street/DE
  • Experienced Club Racing

Forged Performance have been seeing great results using Arias FP Spec pistons in their VQ motor builds for years now so they decided to spec out and order a set up for a VR38DETT build they’re carrying out for a customer.

These are made from Zero Silicon Aluminum for maximum strength and feature tool steel offset wrist pins, and a pressure seal groove. They’re moly coated for lower friction and are capable of supporting a 1000hp build. The specs are 95.5mm, standard bore and built for a 9.0:1 comp ration.

Forged have these in stock in 95.5m so if these sound like something that might interest you, hit up the guys at Forged Performance to have a chat to see how they can help you…

Forged Performance to Enter Redline Time Attack Series 2009

March 18, 2009 Comments off

forged-redline-001

Forged Performance have been spending a lot of time at the track with their GT-R and have been turning some great laptimes with it in both stock and then mildly modified form. Having only changed the wheels, tires, suspension, ECU tuning and exhaust they’re read to take on some highly modified beasts in the extremely competitive Modified AWD class of the Redline Time Attack series 2009.

Last year saw some top level workshops enter their highly modified Evos and STis but this year should see a few GT-Rs I’d say.

The Redline Time Attack Series 2009 begins on June 20th with round #1 at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois.

JRZ Suspension for Nissan GT-R Available Now

March 3, 2009 Comments off

JRZ finished up development on a range of coilover suspension for the Nissan GT-R recently and it’s now available to buy through JRZ dealers. Forged Performance are the first dealer to get their hands on stock for the GT-R and they gave me a heads up on the details.

Designed for a range of applications from street to circuit, the Nissan GT-R suspension is made from the same technology used in 2009 24hrs of Daytona GT class winning suspension from JRZ.

Circuit tested and tuned for the GT-R by racing drivers as well as the JRZ engineering team, each set will come with custom spring rates depending on your intended application.

The JRZ Suspension is available in the following specs:

Here’s a rundown of some of the main features of the JRZ Nissan GT-R suspension sets:

  • Billet machined front and rear fork, lighter and stiffer
  • Right side up mounting for easy rebound adjustment
  • Piggyback or with remote canisters on hoses
  • Cable rebound adjuster extensions in the rear, adjust rebound with the stock interior installed.
  • Spherical bearing upper mounts
  • Improved high performance and circuit driving without sacrificing street driveability

A serious amount of R&D behind this suspension for the money really. For more information and for pricing, check out the Forged Performance website at the link below.

Forged Performance & NAGTROC Hold Biggest GT-R Track Day Yet

March 2, 2009 Comments off

Well known Nissan parts and tuning company, Forged Performance, in cooperation with NAGTROC and Koni Challenge Team Freedom Autosport, successfully completed, quite possibly the largest GT-R-only track day in the world.

On February 23, 2009, no less than 21 GT-R’s made the pilgrimage to Virginia International Raceway in Danville, VA to tackle this world renowned race track. All skill levels were invited to attend, and the event went off without incident. All the GT-R’s ran strong and reliably all day long, and many of the top drivers putting down some impressive lap times in fairly stock cars.

In addition to the seemingly unlimited amount of track time, Bryan Hise from JRZ Suspension, hosted a suspension tech session which highlighted some of the considerations involved when modifying the GT-R’s suspension system. JRZ equipped GT-R’s set the fastest laps of the day, and attendees were invited to ride along and experience the track at speed.

Special thanks to Derek Whitis and his team, for their generous hospitality, and all the NAGTROC members that made this event most memorable. Forged Performance hopes to make this a bi-annual event, so look for details on the upcoming Nov, 2008 VIR NAGTROC track event.
