Tokyo AutoSalon 2010: Nismo ClubSport Nissan GT-R Data Logging Option

January 15, 2010 Comments off

The 2010 Nismo ClubSport package Nissan GT-R was at the show today so we asked Nismo for the lowdown on the new data logging kit option. Given access to the ClubSport GT-R we were able to fiddle about with it to discover what it means.

From what we could tell, it’s much the same MFD that we’re used to, however it’s now fitted with a USB port in the center console next to the standard 12v power socket. Utilising this, it is possible to store the MFD data on a USB storage device for examination and import into software later. In that way, it’s a useful tool to help you improve your driving on the circuit.

We didn’t spot too much in the way of software tweaks on the car itself and didn’t have access to or learn of any software Nismo supplies to read the data so we can’t draw any conclusions on that side of things.

Overall is this option welcome? Yes, if available by itself on a base model GT-R at the dealership. If you need the Nismo ClubSport package to take advantage of it then I don’t see it being a top seller.

That being said, we’re aware that other manufacturers are building friendly data logging units for the GT-R now which are likely to have the same data export features.

Time will tell which is the better option to go with.

Tokyo AutoSalon 2010: Nissan to Debut GT-R Data Logging Option

January 5, 2010 Comments off

Nissan have announced their plans to attend Tokyo AutoSalon 2010 this month. The Nissan booth will feature 9 vehicles including the Nismo ClubSport Package Nissan GT-R and the 2008 SuperGT Championship winning #23 Xanavi GT500 class R35 GT-R.

One interesting thing to note is that the Nismo ClubSport kitted GT-R will be of the 2010 model flavour and be fitted out with the forthcoming Nismo Data Logger MFD option.

The Nissan GT-R 2010 model also includes the newly developed “NISMO Data Logger Kit”, which makes it possible for the driver to download their driving data via USB and view it on a computer. With this data logger kit, NISMO provides a new driving pleasure in which the driver has a full complement of options to analyze driving data acquired at the driving circuit.

Nismo will also be offering a limited edition #23 Xanavi GT500 model on sale. Only 996 numbered units will be up for grabs so if you plan on attending it might make a nice keepsake.

Nismo Launch Nismo Club Sport Package for Nissan GT-R in the UK

November 9, 2009 Comments off

Nismo have now authorised the first dealership outside of Japan to sell, install and service the NISMO ClubSport Package for the Nissan GT-R. Originally unveiled back in August 2008, the package is designed to enhance the circuit performance of the GT-R but also improve on road handling as well.

Many of the parts were originally seen on the Tokachi 24hrs race car prior to July 2008 and then went on to be part of the SpecV package from the factory. They include:

  • Nismo 20 inch Rays lightweight forged aluminium wheels
  • Nismo Bilstein Damptronic Suspension
  • Nismo Recaro Carbon/Leather seats
  • Nismo Titanium Exhaust System
  • Nismo Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
  • Nismo Badging

For specifications on the parts, check our previous article on the details. As for pricing, stay tuned but don’t get your hopes up on discount Nismo tuning parts anytime soon. Still, the move is interesting as it may lead to the opening up of other Nismo tuning parts for Nissan GT-R outside Japan such as the Nismo ECM/TCM released in May 2009.

June 9, 2009 Comments off

bm-jul-09-006

In this installment of what is fast becoming “Best R35 GT-R Motoring” DVD-zine we get to checkout exactly how a stock Series II (2009 JDM model) Nissan GT-R goes up against a Nismo Clubsport Package tweaked GT-R and a SpecV Nissan GT-R. After the SpecV’s less than impressive result in questionable conditions earlier in the year, Mizuno is on hand to ensure the test is fair this time.

Three seasoned racing pros go head to head at Sendai Highland Raceway to see which GT-R is ultimately king of the circuit. Should be a good one to pickup for the collection.

As usual you can order this and any GT-R books and DVD’s from Amazon Japan in English if you follow our HowTo linked below.

November 7, 2008 Comments off

A lucky few were recently invited to Sendai Highland Raceway in Japan recently to get a feel for the Nismo Clubsport version of the Nissan GT-R. Edmunds report goes into a lot of detail on the parts themselves but not a lot on the driving impressions.

I will be checking this out myself in a few weeks so I’ll give some of my own impressions when I return from Nismo Festival.

Nismo Club Sports Package for R35 GT-R Revealed

August 28, 2008 Comments off

From under a thick veil of secrecy, Nissan’s motorsport division, Nismo announced today details of the Club Sports tuning package for the Nissan R35 GT-R. This tuning package has been designed to enhance the GT-R’s already great power, response and handling. With this package, Nismo are not selling parts individually but instead selling it as a total upgrade solution. For 5,460,000 yen the Club Sports package will get you the following upgrades:

  • Nismo 20 inch Rays lightweight forged aluminium wheels
  • Nismo Bilstein Damptronic Suspension
  • Nismo Recaro Carbon/Leather seats
  • Nismo Titanium Exhaust System
  • Nismo Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
  • Nismo Badging

The catch is that, at the moment, the Nismo Club Sports package is only available installed within Japan at one of their 12 certified and trained Nismo ExpertShops plus two additional certified workshops countrywide. What does that mean for international Nismo fans? Right now it means there is a delays on getting these parts individually and then shipped to you.

The Club Sports Package is available from 30th September 2008. The Nismo Club Sports package comes with a 3 year, 60,000km warranty.
