Nissan R35 GT-R Production Delays

April 11, 2008

Nissan Japan have sent a communique to their patiently waiting R35 GT-R purchasers recently detailing a delay in the manufacturing of the sophisticated six-speed DSG transmission. The rear mounted transaxle used in the Nissan GT-R contains two clutches used for alternating gears in order to speed shift times. One clutch for odd numbered gears and one for even numbered.

The delay is in the manufacturing of these clutches which are sourced from the US. Nissan Japan assure customers that more capacity is being brought online shortly in order to supply demand in the form of a new facility but until then please sit tight.

Here’s hoping this delay does not destroy too many future Japanese GT-R owner’s dreams of cheap GT-R s for the summer while the rest of the world cries themselves to sleep from all the anticipation!
