GTRBlog How-To: Order Books, DVDs and Magazines from Amazon Japan

May 15, 2008

Loads of people tell me every day, that’s a great story about the latest book, DVD or model on your site but how do I order that from the USA? It’s a lot easier now with Amazon Japan stocking pretty much everything I’ve featured and a lot more.

You’re no doubt already familiar with Amazon in the US, Australia and Europe and use it whenever you need books. I do, it’s a lot cheaper and easier than the local book stores around here especially for work books.

Amazon Japan is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon but it is a separate website. Your US Amazon ID doesn’t get you far on the Japan site but it doesn’t mean you have to give up. Just follow this step by step guide and you’ll be signed up and shopping online in English in a few minutes.

Step 1.

Amazon Japan have an English home page and an English international user signup form too. Follow this link. to get to the English home page. Once you’ve visited this once it will set a cookie on your browser and every time you come back the page will be in English for you

Step 2

Browse around or search until you find something you like. If you’re like me you usually already know what you want (GT-R books right) so just type a search term in the search box and away you go. Prices will be in Japanese yen but you can use an online currency calculator like XE.com to convert if you need.

Step 3.

Once you’ve found something you want to buy just add it to your cart and proceed through the normal checkout process. You will eventually hit the signup page. Argh! It’s in Japanese… Don’t worry just hit the link at “Would you like to see this page in English?” and voila!

Step 4.

Continue following the checkout and address procedures and you’re done. Couldn’t be easier right?!

Here are some Amazon Items you might wanna get started with
