Club Track Edition Nissan GT-R on Sale This Summer

May 30, 2010 Comments off

When Nissan announced back in April that they intended to setup a Nissan GT-R Sports Driving Club and even partner with third parties build a Nissan GT-R club spec car to compete with it it flew mostly under the radar. Until today I’m sure because the first photos of what is the Club Track Edition Nissan GT-R have been published up on GT-R authorized tuning shop Nordring’s website.

This car is a joint venture between Nissan, Nismo, NOVA Engineering and Nordring and owners, who will be able to buy these cars shortly, will become part of a Nissan sanctioned Sports Club. The idea is that these members will participate in driver training, track days and other such events.

The photos give us a glimpse at the new 20″ slicks mounted on the Rays lightweight SpecV 20″ wheels. On the inside of the Club Track Edition GT-R we can make out a stripped interior with a 4 point roll cage installed. The roll cage features removable door bars. An optional 6 point roll cage is available. To match this is a slick Bride Gardis III racing seat with a 6 point harness and a racing steering wheel. The car will also feature specially tuned Bilstein Suspension more suited to the circuit.

Hopefully we’ll get some more details shortly on this, there is an article in Best Car magazine this month with some predicted pricing, we’ll update this post when we know more on that.

SuperGT 2010: Video Highlights and HSV-10 Drama from Suzuka 300

March 22, 2010 Comments off

Well we know the GT-R dominates but these videos go some way to explain why the HSV-10 wasn’t so competitive on the weekend. It never helps to have three of your brand new race cars out on lap 10 in an absolutely insane crash at turn one.

Fortunately it looks like everyone was able to walk away, sore looking but ok.

This wasn’t the only drama of the day and you can watch the highlights of the entire race in the video below including a four car incident in the GT300 class as the rain began to sprinkle down.

That’s followed almost immediately with the race leader and pole position starter Weider HSV-10 that goes off the slippery track losing a lot of positions in the process.

Only a few turns later and the eventual race winner HIS ADVAN GT-R also overruns a turn coming onto the straight.

All this is only by lap TWO by the way. You’ll have to watch the whole thing for the rest of the nail biting suspense. Too bad I already spoiled the ending for you.

Video of the highlights is below…

Knight Racer Carbon Fibre Range for Nissan GT-R

October 1, 2009 Comments off

knightracer-carbon-001

You may have seen Knight Racer products adorning Nissan GT-Rs worldwide already. The UK based manufacturer has been in the Skyline / GT-R world for a good number of years now sporting a solid reputation of producing some fine quality carbon parts, so it’s fairly natural to assume it would continue when the latest GT-R launched in Europe earlier in the year.

Their range of Hybrid Carbon parts for the R35 Nissan GT-R is already quite broad covering many of the usual suspects. In the lineup they have a carbon oem style hood, carbon trunk lid, carbon rear wing, carbon front grille, carbon front lip spoiler, carbon rear exhaust protector, and carbon hood ducts. The guys also have less conventional items such as carbon full replacement front guards.

Knight Racer intends to expand it’s GT-R product range and to target the international market so expect to hear more news shortly. For now, hit up the Knight Racer website for more pics and more details on how to get your hands on these and more.

Quit Targa West 2009: Back to Back Wins for Steve Jones in the GT-R

August 25, 2009 Comments off

targawest09-barnsie01-001

An amazing result for the Nissan GT-R camp as Steve Jones and Ruari Souter-Dawson take the outright win for the 2009 Quit Targa West held over the weekend in Western Australia. Jones took the lead over rival Nissan GT-R pilot Tony Quinn during Leg 2 of racing and maintained it for the entire third day of racing. Quinn ended up finishing in second place overall for the event but was then excluded from the final results in post race inspection due to an exhaust “irregularity”.

Steve Jones was the youngest winner ever for the Quit Targa West in 2008 so to pull off back to back wins is a damn good effort. Congrats to the team!

In the Modern Challenge class, the GT-R also came away victorious as brothers Mark and Andrew Conacher beat out their next fastest competitor by over 3 and a half minutes.

Great work to all involved and again a great highlight that the GT-R is now the force to be reckoned with in the tarmac rally world.
