Mine’s President Niikura-san Hints at New Tuning Products for Nissan GT-R
In a recent statement, Mine’s CEO and President, Michizo Niikura-san has announced a confirmation of further developments on the Nissan R35 GT-R platform. Mine’s has been committed to developing products for GT-R enthusiasts since launch back in 2007 and most recently showed off their Mine’s Spec-X 6.0 GT-R representing the then pinnacle of their parts catalog.
Next up from Mine’s according to Niikura-san’s statement are releases for the 2009 (Series II) GT-R and the SpecV GT-R. ECU’s for both have been unlocked so expect updated VX-ROM releases in the very near future.
Outside of that, Mine’s is also working on their throttle body upgrade for the GT-R known as the “Super Big Throttle Body”, more carbon fibre products to enhance the aggressiveness of the GT-R’s looks, and finally, a VR38DETT Super Complete Engine upgrade featuring upgraded pistons and conrods among other things.

Mine’s have been out again testing their Spec-X 6.0 Nissan GT-R – the latest most potent R35 GT-R to come from Mine’s. Packing 600ps and less bulk due to lightweight carbon parts. Last month Mine’s were shakedown testing at Tsukuba but this weekend they’ve gone and set a laptime at Fuji Speedway.
On a cold dry track, Eiji “Tarzan” Yamada drove the Mine’s Spec-X 6.0 GT-R around FSW in 1:49.782 breaking their own previous best of 1:51.258.

Mine’s Spec-X 6.0 GT-R Testing at Tsukuba Circuit
Mine’s have been at Tsukuba before with their GT-R and with the VX-ROM, suspension, brakes and aero tweaks they easily dipped into the 59 second laptimes. That was a while back now. Mine’s have made a lot of changes to what is now known as the Mine’s Spec-X 6.0. We got to see the Spec-X 6.0 at Tokyo AutoSalon this year and even just from outside you can see it’s leaner and meaner.
Power for the Spec-X 6.0 is up with the new Mine’s ECU, the VX-ROM Type-X, to 600ps. To get there, upgraded wastegate actuators, an electronic boost controller (HKS EVC5), NGK racing plugs and a completely new ECU tune is included.
The Spec-X 6.0 also comes with a few exhaust changes over the past iterations of the Mine’s GT-R. Mine’s Super Outlet PRO II cat-less turbine outlet pipes are installed with Mine’s cat-less Straight Pipe II.
Other changes are the new Mine’s dry carbon fibre parts including the dry carbon hood, trunk lid, side skirts, new ducted front underspoiler, rear underspoiler and rear wing. These parts are both lightweight and functional. Check out the links below for more info on the carbon parts.
At Tsukuba this weekend Mine’s were out with driver Eiji “Tarzan” Yamada tuning the setup of the Spec-X’s Mine’s Suspension. It did not run a timed lap this weekend but the regular Mine’s GT-R was clocking low 59’s with a best lap of 59.244 seconds on a cold track. The Spec-X 6.0 should be good for 58s in the very near future.

TAS2009: Mine’s Reveal New GT-R Carbon Parts
Mine’s have been quite good at keeping their latest carbon parts away from the public so that they can reveal them at Tokyo AutoSalon this year. Partnering again with Mooncraft, they have produced quite a number of premium quality parts for the discerning GT-R owner.
First up we have an updated Mine’s Dry Carbon front lip spoiler. This new lip integrates brake ducting and a slightly more aggressive look. This is available concurrently with the original Mine’s front lip spoiler.
Next we have this brand new carbon hood. Styled identical to the OE hood this has an exceptional finish and can be left bare or painted as shown on here the Mine’s demo car. The Mine’s carbon hood saves weight over the front end of the car, combine with the Mine’s anti-sway bars to help eliminate understeer.
Here we see the new Mine’s carbon trunk lid. Another weight saver which is again top quality. It’s finished here with the new Mine’s carbon fibre rear wing aero cover, again from Mooncraft.
Lastly for this post we see the finished Mine’s Type-II aero mirror covers. The design is changed over any prototypes we’ve seen before.
We’ll get some pricing and maybe even some weights of these items shortly. Until then enjoy the rest of the photos after the jump.
