Motul Nismo R35 GT-R Final Testing
Well it’s right around the corner now. The 15th annual Tokachi 24hr endurance race is on this weekend and Nismo are putting the finishing touches on the setup of their R35 GT-R. Today out at Fuji Speedway the testing session was briefly interrupted by showers giving the Nismo guys a chance to gather data about how the car does in the wet. In all likelyhood the 24hr race may involve some wet laps so it’s all good to know in advance.
Tomorrow the team should be travelling to Tokachi Speedway up in Hokkaido the northern most island of Japan to rest up for the big race.

Motul Nismo R35 GT-R Testing at Fuji Speedway
After our spy photo’s posted the other day we knew some more photos we’re coming and GTR-World.net again does not dissapoint. They were out at Fuji Speedway on Monday for some further track testing in the now completed Motul Nismo R35 GT-R – prepped for the 15th Annual Tokachi 24hr Endurance race coming up this weekend.
A few changes have been made to the GT-R since we saw it testing at Sendai Highland raceway last week.
- Full race decals have been applied, including GTR-World.net’s own decals
- A grille has been added in front of the cooler intake ducts
- The Nismo exhaust tips have been completed and look great
- For a number of reasons, including pit crew safety, the fuel tank had to be changed to a racing fuel cell. This is good news however as it gives an added 24 litre capacity (95 litres up from 71) which is an advantage in a 24hr race.
The countdown to the race is underway and we can’t wait to see how the Nismo GT-R does! More photos after the jump and stay tuned to GTR-World and GTRBlog.com for updates from the race as it happens.

Interview with Motul Nismo Racing Team Director and Lead Driver
Recently the Nismo R35 GT-R was out at Sendai Highland Raceway performing shakedown tests in preparation for the Tokachi 24hr race coming up this weekend.
GTR-World.net managed to get some time to speak to the team director, Kumagai-san to ask him about Nismo and Motul’s goals and motivations in entering this race, Japan’s only 24 hour endurance event. Lead driver Masami Kageyama was also there for a chat about the car itself.
MOTUL Nismo Racing Team Director Kumagai
GTR-World: Tell us, why have you put this car and team together for this race?
Kumagai-san: We’ve developed the car for this race to put these new Motul competition oils and Nismo parts we have developed to the test. To verify their durability and efficiency before they go on sale.GTR-World: The car is very close to the production model, is this on purpose?
Kumagai-san: Definately, we want to prove the reliability and endurance capabilities.…

Nismo R35 GT-R Testing at Sendai Highland: Part 3
Following on from yesterday’s track action photos of the Nismo R35 GT-R at Sendai Highland raceway testing we have these close up detailed photos. So we finally get a good upclose look at the grill and ducting modifications Nismo have made obviously providing a lot more airflow to the radiator and brakes.
The wheels close up are now sporting Nismo logos and from the rear you can see an additional differential oil cooler. Inside the stereo, speakers and A/C controls are gone. Replaced with simple carbon fiber panels for controls. The standard MFD is obscured by a large data display unit. Interestingly the door trims still remain along with other trim pieces like the kick plates.

Nismo R35 GT-R Testing at Sendai Highland: Part 2
As we know Nismo was out at Sendai Highland Raceway last weekend performing shakedown tests of their recently built Nissan R35 GT-R for the Tokachi 24hr endurance race coming up this month. Out friends from GTR-World.net were on location and shot a lot of great shots as the Nismo put in a number of thirty minute sessions on an extremely hot track.
Data was recorded on all aspects of the cars performance, even down to brake wear, tire wear, fuel economy. These elements play a key role when your talking about a 24hr endurance race especially taking into account that the GT-R will be running standard brakes and fuel tank size.
Anyway check out the photo gallery after the jump. Thanks to GTR-World.net for giving us a glimpse of this amazing car.
Tokachi 24hr Race: More Nismo R35 GT-R Buildup Part 3
Another update from GTR-World.net with even more detailed photos of the Nismo R35 GT-R buildup in progress over at Omori Factory. We know this build up is finished now because the completed car has been spied on the track but still this is extremely interesting to see what’s gone into it.
First up we see how Nismo have addressed cooling. The answer is not much has changed. The A/C condensor has been removed but apart from that the standard intercoolers and standard radiator remain. We also know now that the front bar is modified to allow more than standard airflow to the radiator by way of removing the GT-R badge and cutting ducts in the nose section. The oil cooler location remains the same but the core has been upgraded to a larger one.

Tokachi 24hr Nismo R35 GT-R at Sendai Highland Raceway
Nismo were testing their R35 GT-R which is in development for the Tokachi 24hr race at Sendai Highland raceway today. This photo was snapped of the car and what a car it is!
Clearly you can see there’s been a bit of work going on at Omori Factory. The front lip and front bar are modified with ducting. The lip itself is most likely carbon fiber also. The front GT-R badge has been cut away and replaced with a self adhesive one to improve airflow to the radiator. Bonnet pins hold down the carbon fiber bonnet while the whole car – including carbon bits got a coat of bright red paint.
The Rays 20″ wheels have been painted black and now sport logos. Too small to read but overall they are very much special edition TE37s.
Some more photos should be coming soon and we’ll keep you updated.

Nismo Omori Factory: Tokachi 24hr Race Car Preparation
Well not wasting any time. Nismo, after just announcing they are entering the Tokachi 24hr Endurance race have dismantled a Nissan R35 GT-R to prep for the race later this month. We can already see the car has a bolt in roll cage and is using the TE37 type wheels seen on all the V-Spec running at Nurburgring.
The car is also stripped out inside and has what may possibly be a carbon trunk lid.
The car is being prepared at Nismo Omori Factory about 40 minutes train ride from Tokyo. The home soil of some of the most legendary Japanese cars such as the Nismo R34 GT-R Z-Tune.
