Nissan’s 2022 NISMO GT-R is a Handcrafted, 600ps, GT3 Turbo Powered Happy Meal

July 11, 2021 Comments off

This April Nissan announced the latest evolution in the GT-R NISMO with a press release stating availability come October 2021. The 2022 GT-R NISMO features the same upgrades over the base GT-R that first debuted in the MY2020 car with some minor tweaks.

Firstly the most obvious is the new Stealth Gray body color. Supposedly inspired by the color of the tarmac the NISMO GT-R has set records upon, this color will be exclusive to NISMO GT-Rs.

Next is the availability of a special edition. Buyers choosing this option will get a clear coated carbon hood allowing them that racecar aesthetic commonly seen in the aftermarket. They say doing this saves 100 grams of paint but we all know it adds at least 50hp ;)! While the hood remains the same shape and vent configuration of the previous MY, the upgraded aesthetic certainly sets the car apart from the previous generation.

Clear coat only hood option.

The special edition will use the same black, forged aluminum, 20″ RAYS wheels but these will now be accented with a red stripe matching the red accents around the rest of the car. It’s a smart looking stripe which doesn’t look out of place on the car.

On the rear of the NISMO GT-R we’ll find the brand new Nissan emblem which echos the brand’s new corporate image. The Nissan logo on the GT-R will be illuminated on the trunk but will also adorn the wheel center caps.

Along with those aesthetic, visual cues, the other changes for the MY22 NISMO GT-R will be high-precision, weight-balanced engine internals. Nissan are tweaking the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley and valve springs for this engine. Each engine will feature tighter tolerances in order to eek more out of the GT3 racecar turbochargers that were also found on the 2020 NISMO GT-R.

To launch the new car Nissan teamed up with McDonalds and Tomica to produce some model cars that were available in April in Japan in Happy Meals. A Stealth Gray special edition NISMO GT-R toy was produced along with a gold bodied car with a McDonalds logo on the rear spoiler. At the launch Nissan also produced a gold wrapped GT-R which I’m calling the Maccas GT-R.

2012 Nissan GT-R: NAGTROC Scoop First Unmasked Real World 2012 GT-R Photos

September 28, 2010 Comments off

Well while we were able to bring you the first unmasked prettied up brochure pics of the 2012 GT-R, we’ve been beaten to the punch of the first real world unmasked photos of the next GT-R. Especially important are the photos of the new Aurora Flare Blue Pearl color seen above and on NAGTROC.

NAGTROC also scooped photos of black, white and Dark Metal Grey GT-R’s out and about at the Nurburgring on a miserable looking afternoon. Toshio Suzuki evidently at the wheel.

Nissan have fully uncovered the car now including it’s LED running lights, hopefully the publication of our earlier photos had something to do with that…

Thanks to Matt MC for the heads up.

FIA GT1 2010: Nissan GT-Rs at Spa Francochamps

It was not a great round for the Nissan GT-R teams Sumo Power GT and Swiss Racing Team but nontheless it was a great day for some stunning GT-R photos. Enjoy the photo gallery and full race report from Nissan below…

Heartbreak for Sumo Power GT at Spa

– FIA GT1 World Championship Round 5 Championship Race –
July 31st, Spa Francorchamps (Belgium)

The Sumo Power GT team came tantalisingly close to taking a second place finish in today’s FIA GT1 Championship race at Spa today but the No.23 Nissan GT-R retired just two minutes before the chequered flag fell. It would have been a huge achievement for Peter Dumbreck and Michael Krumm who had hauled themselves back from yesterday’s disappointing qualifying result.

Super Taikyu: NISMO GT-R RC Race Car Debut at Fuji Speedway

June 25, 2010 Comments off

Well today was the day that Nismo could finally let the finished R35 GT-R RC out of the bag so to speak in final demonstration livery. The GT-R RC is seen here as it is preparing for Sunday’s final race as it’s entered into the Super Taikyu round 4 as an ST-1 class competitor.

The car you see here is what customers will be able to buy from Nismo in the near future in a similar vein to the Fairlady Z NISMO 380RS-C. Nismo hopes to show off the GT-R’s pace this weekend in order to attract buyers and they certainly have the right drivers for it. Hopefully all goes well for the guys and we’ll bring the results as we get them.

For now enjoy this massive photo gallery of the all new Nismo GT-R RC…

Happy Australia Day GT-R Lovers

January 26, 2010 Comments off

Australia Day, celebrated the 26th of January every year is the best day of the year to get out in the back yard with a case of beer and fire up the BBQ in the stinking summer heat. It got up to about 40 something Celsius today but fortunately it’s also a public holiday so we don’t need to go to work.

Anyways, lets celebrate Australia Day with some fine pics of a Aussie GT-R! One of the finest in the country, we’re going to be looking out for this car in some upcoming tarmac rallys.

The center is anodized Flat Charcoal and are 21×10 in the front and 21×11 in the rear.

Hit up the NAGTROC thread to see loads more photos from this shoot…

Happy New Year from GTRBlog.com

January 1, 2010 Comments off

Happy new year guys, we’re going to take a day off for recovery after some serious eating and drinking and fireworks watching for 2010. The view above is pretty much what I was watching as the clock ticked over to 12:00 1st January 2010 in Sydney Australia.

As a small token of appreciation I gathered up a few photos I’ve taken in 2009 and uploaded some highres ones for desktops or what have you.

Thanks for supporting us over the last 12 months and keep checking back for much more GT-R news in the years to come!

I’m a frequent reader of many other blogs and probably have 200 RSS feeds in my reader so when I spotted this post on The Real JDM it ended up with me browsing Deviant Art for other gems. I’ve included a few I liked in this gallery below but hit up Deviant Art for more and spend a few hours browsing the random car images you might find.

These images are owned and copyright by the artists. Check with them at the links after the jump if you want to use their images in any way.
