2012 Nissan GT-R Spied With Updated Wheel Design

June 29, 2010 Comments off

Edmunds has scooped a few new photos of the 2012 GT-R at Nurburgring again today. This time shes wearing even less camouflage than before so we can start to properly appreciate the new curves up front.

What’s most surprising and what they failed to comment on was the completely new wheel design. It’s long been predicted that Nissan will also need to refresh the wheel design to complete a facelift and it looks like they have. Not a huge departure from the original design which is a good thing because the original wheels were great. These are expected to be slightly lighter than the 2009 versions.

Super Taikyu: NISMO GT-R RC Race Car Debut at Fuji Speedway

June 25, 2010 Comments off

Well today was the day that Nismo could finally let the finished R35 GT-R RC out of the bag so to speak in final demonstration livery. The GT-R RC is seen here as it is preparing for Sunday’s final race as it’s entered into the Super Taikyu round 4 as an ST-1 class competitor.

The car you see here is what customers will be able to buy from Nismo in the near future in a similar vein to the Fairlady Z NISMO 380RS-C. Nismo hopes to show off the GT-R’s pace this weekend in order to attract buyers and they certainly have the right drivers for it. Hopefully all goes well for the guys and we’ll bring the results as we get them.

For now enjoy this massive photo gallery of the all new Nismo GT-R RC…

MotorTrend: 2012 Nissan GT-R Unmasked Spied at Nurburgring

June 23, 2010 Comments off

There’s been a lot of the masked / camouflaged GT-R photos on various sites around the net this week. Unfortunately most of them gave us even less of an idea than we already had about what the facelifted 2012 GT-R was going to look like.

MotorTrend has changed that with the publication of some much more juicy photos clearly showing the front double canards and the rear diffuser updates.

It’s certainly a big departure from what I was expecting up front, I was assuming a more subdued front canard look. Nevertheless the rear end look appeals to me a lot.

STILLEN to Tackle the Spectre 341 Challenge Hillclimb

Comments off

Steve Millen and Team STILLEN are gunning for a record this weekend. A record that has stood since 2002 for the Highway 341 hillclimb challenge in Virginia City, Nevada. This normally public road will be shutdown so competitors can stretch their legs up it’s 22 turns, 5.2 miles and over 1,200 feet of elevation. The current record belongs to Amir Rosenbaum in his Ferrari F40 and is 3m10s, but Steve wants to smash that and break the 3minute mark with the help of his tarmac rally prepped Nissan GT-R.

The car has been tweaked a little since racing last and now sports the gamut of GReddy intake and cooling products including hard pipe kits and intercoolers. They’re also planning on running more boost for a bit more top end horsepower.

Good luck guys and we look forward to seeing you kicking some prancing horsetail this weekend…

Power House Amuse and GT-RR Launch R1000 Titanium Exhaust

June 22, 2010 Comments off

Powerhouse Amuse Japan has developed a special exhaust using GT-RR’s collaborative specifications for worldwide market sales. The new exhaust is known as the “R1000 GT-RR SPL STTI” and is produced by Amuse in Japan using their proprietary STTI (super tough titanium/Ti) material. The exhaust which was developed in collaboration between GT-RR.COM and Amuse takes the successful design of Amuse’s prior R1 Titan Extra STTI model and increases the size from 80mm to 90mm to maximize power in higher boost GT-R applications. Additionally, after considering GT-RR’s research, adjustments to sound tuning were made and the result is a more prominent supercar appropriate tone.

The design utilizes Amuse’s highly effective twin horizontal resonators for sound control but does not use any other resonators on the piping. As a result of the new design, the R1000 GT-RR SPL STTI exhaust yielded surprising results during Amuse Japan’s dyno test. After repeated testing, the new special exhaust has produced 21 horsepower more than the previous Amuse exhaust system on the very same GT-R.

SuperGT 2010: Nissan GT-Rs Score Big in Sepang with 1-2 Victory

June 20, 2010 Comments off

After qualifying in pole position the #12 GT-R of team Calsonic IMPUL has taken a maximum points victory away from round 4 of the 2010 SuperGT Championships at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. Team Nismo have also improved on their recent form after upgrading their third place qualifying with a second place final finish.

The Malaysian round of the SuperGT is always a hot one and this year was no different. Track temps were measured at around 43 degrees celsius. Rain was threatening but never eventuated leaving the competitors to tough it out in the hot dry conditions.

While the pole to win victory is sweet it didn’t come without incident and on lap 37 the #12 GT-R was actually given a tap by a rival #100 Honda HSV-010 and sent into a spin. While this created a opportunity for the HSV and the #23 Nismo GT-R to sneak past, both were handed drive through penalties leaving the way clear for the #12 GT-R to resume it’s position in front.

Congratulations to team Nismo and team IMPUL on their great victories this weekend. The win places team IMPUL in 4th position on the championship ladder while Nismo slides up into 9th. For a full race report, click the read more link below

Willlall Racing Shift Light for the Nissan GT-R

June 16, 2010 Comments off

No longer do standard ECU GT-R owners have to envy their aftermarket ECU comrades for their fancy dash gadgets. The Willlall Racing WR35SL shift light is the perfect touch for the circuit loving GT-R owner who needs that subtle reminder of when to grab that next gear.

That “subtle” reminder will come by way of 7 high intensity, RPM programmable, LEDs that will light up in regular intervals until they’ll begin to all flash at a pre-set RPM limit just before cutoff.

The WR35SL is priced at just $160 and seamlessly fits into the GT-R’s interior. It comes with all the instructions you need to install and get setup.
