Trust Japan Turns the Corner on Financial Woes

March 13th, 2009

After a shakey few months since announcing it was filing for Minji-Saisei-Hou (approximately equivalent to filing for Chapter 11) Trust Japan’s parent company GReddy has announced a successful reorganization and is looking ahead to a brighter future.

GReddy USA has not fully emerged from their Chapter 11 filing but says they are confident they will over the coming months.

Switzer Tuned P700 Nissan GT-R

March 12th, 2009

Switzer have been in the tuning game for quite a while now and in the past they’ve grown a following building quality packages for cars such as the Porsche 911 Turbo. One of their more wicked projects you might know about is the Sledghammer 1000 hp Porsche 997 that manages an easy looking 9.7 quarter mile ET on standard internals.

Since beginning work on the Nissan GT-R at the behest of a customer they’ve put together a neat package that manages to put down over 625 hp at the wheels on 93 octane pump gas. The kit, known as the P700 consists of upgraded turbochargers, larger front mounted twin intercoolers and electronics to tie it all together. Fully tuned it makes over 700 crank horsepower – 626 awhp and 583 lb/ft of awtq. What’s more is that it’s said to do that safely without putting components at risk.

Switzer is based out of Ohio and if you’re keen on getting into one of these P700 kits the price is set at $16,650 USD. Reach them via the website below. The entire press release can be read after the jump along with a few more photos.

Drivers Republic Talk to Simon Croft on the European GT-R SpecV at Geneva

March 12th, 2009

Drivers Republic attended the Geneva Motorshow recently to catch up with Simon Croft, European Marketing Manager for the Nissan GT-R, on the SpecV. They got to checkout the almost-production European specification SpecV and ask all the really tricky warranty type questions.

Good video, I sat through it to the end which is a change for me.

PS. People behind firewalls (at work for example) may not get this video to work as it requires port 1935 to be open for the streaming video.

Zele Complete Edition Tuning at Fuji Speedway

March 11th, 2009

Wouldn’t it be nice to have Fuji Speedway in your backyard? Spend the weekends on a picnic blanket down by the circuit looking out on the Fuji Mountain vista. Ah memories…

Anyway where were we? Zele have been out to Fuji Speedway with the Complete Edition and in between bursts of view admiring and suspension adjusting have managed to set a 1:50.08 lap time. They’re personally not 100% pleased with the time but it is quite quick.

They think with a set of fresh rubber and a clear lap they can push for mid 1:4x’s. I’m sure the car has that in it and can’t wait till they go back which should be soon. We’ll see then if it has what it takes to be the quickest tuner GT-R at FSW.

Arios Dry Carbon Coolant Tank Cover

March 11th, 2009

Arios have a growing range of products on the market for the R35 GT-R focussed mainly on enhancing the asthetics. Today they add an additional engine bay dress up part in the form of a dry carbon radiator overflow tank cover.

The stock coolant tank does tend to stick out being a stark white so I see where they’re coming from. If you find yourself showing off your engine bay a lot this is just the thing to go with your carbon engine cover, polished intake and titanium hood support.

Limited to just 5 sets, this is available now for 31,500 yen.

T1R Exhaust Pricing, Release Date and Comparisons for Nissan GT-R

March 10th, 2009

The Type1 Racing exhaust for the Nissan GT-R is due in less than a months time now and what should be final pricing is up online already. We also have a new dyno chart we hadn’t seen before comparing each T1R Exhaust stage from the turbos back.

The T1R 90R Cat back exhaust in stainless will set you back $1,890 USD. It’s manufactured in SUS316 grade stainless and offers a 90mm main pipe split into two 70mm rear pipe sections. It will go on sale in April and should be available for pre-order now.

The T1R Y-Pipe also goes on sale in April this year. It’s made from the same SUS316 grade stainless steel and features a pair of 76.3mm pipes combined into a single 90mm diameter pipe. Two flex joins insure it will not suffer cracking under stress at high temperatures. The price? Just $619 USD.

We’ll have a video of these come April when SpeedForSale get their hands on one installed on their own GT-R.

Thanks Jeremy@SpeedForSale for the update.

Nissan GT-R Wagon Makes Debut at Nagoya Auto Trend 2009

March 8th, 2009

The Japanese have a bit of a history of building hot wagons. Whether it’s the R33 GT-R wagon hand built by Option and Trial or the official “unofficial GT-R wagon” the Autech Stagea RS260 famous for it’s GT-R drivetrain and the subsequent R34 GT-R Masa Motorsports front end fascia swaps adapted to it later on.

Of course times change and we move on. The RB26DETT is out of production and so the Autech Stagea has become somewhat less of a buff over the stock M35 Stagea car so what can you do to fix that?

As shown here the answer was staring you in the face the whole time, this R35 front end swap on a M35 Stagea was on show at Nagoya Auto Trend this weekend. The swap seems to continue to the sides and the rear quarters are also slightly flared to keep with the theme. Overall looks to be a real solid job.

Powering these is usually the VQ35DE NA V6 3.5 litre engine in either RWD or AWD configuration so this one could easily be hiding a stroked VQ with a twin-turbo kit.

If you can’t picture what the M35 Stagea looked like before this check after the jump for a photo…

JUN Auto Engine Parts in Development

March 7th, 2009

One of the most widely respected Japanese hardcore engine development workshops is lead by charismatic Junichi Tanaka-san. Based in Tokyo they’ve built some serious gear for customers interested in the top end of the horsepower range and they already have no shortage of customers who want the magic 1000hp from the VR38DETT. The name of the company, of course, is JUN Auto.

Recently he’s unveiled the plans they’ve made so far on getting there from here, 485ps to 1000hp and they’re exciting.

Starting in April and May JUN will focus considerable effort on the internals of the Nissan R35 GT-R’s enigmatic VR38DETT. Top of their list are:

  • Billet Crankshafts
  • Billet Connecting Rods
  • Billet Pistons
  • Billet Camshafts

Should be some interesting times and I’m hoping we’ll see a JUN Super Lemon R35 in in the not too distant future. Check out after the jump to see a test drive of JUN’s 1000hp R33 GT-R.
