More Power In Store for 2012, Spec-M Named for Japan Market: The Nissan GT-R EGOIST

August 30th, 2010

Well we did mention that the SpecM name was tentative and today we’ve heard another rumor from sources close to Nissan that the R35 GT-R “Gentleman’s Edition” will launch in the Japanese market as the Nissan GT-R Egoist. While the name seems insane to us it’s not too far outside the bounds of Japanese naming schemes so that we’d completely rule it out.

The SpecM nameplate is likely to be kept in markets outside Japan however so don’t completely cross it off your wish list just yet…

On the topic of rumors from sources close to Nissan Japan, here’s another we’ve just heard. Those folks hopeful that 520ps is the new peak power figure for the 2012 GT-R might be surprised to learn they can expect to be dissapointed. After seeing this figure making its way around blogs and forums one might start quoting it as fact by now but to this date no figure has appeared either officially or leaked. In the true spirit of it not being over ’til the fat lady sings, we’re now told by our reliable sources that 530ps – 540ps is more accurate.

I’ll leave that last one out there…

Wow it just gets better and better, looks like Nissan means business this time.
It will be a good day when they release the nurburgring lap times, id say even the most optimistic GT-R Fan will even be surprised.
But i wonder if they will release the Spec-Vs lap time its not like they have before!

They should have gone with the GT-R “stuck up” or “self centered”. Sounds much better than Egoist.

    Definition of EGOIST
    1
    : a believer in egoism
    2
: an egocentric or egotistic person

I wonder if they realize that Egoist has negative connotations in English? Probably not that important.

I can’t really believe they are going to use this name. It sounds like someone is feeding you some lines of bullocks.

As from the article, Egoist most probably only to be used in Japan where I suppose the connotations are mostly positive. English is used by many cultures and what constitues correct use can thus differ between cultures. For example Rap vs. White House culture to keep it within one country…

That said, I “dig the 2012″ “irrespective” of the official power figures… and the new laptime…

The name “Egoist” is perfect, still can’t beat the name “LFA” though, “Le F’in A-hole”!
