Nissan GT-R: Nurburgring Rapid Response Vehicle

August 3rd, 2009

When you’ve got thousands of tourists attacking your public race track each year you’re going to run into the odd occasion when someone makes an error. If that error gets serious you’re going to want to be able to get to the scene of an incident quickly. On a 20km circuit like the Nordschliefe this is no job for an ordinary fire truck.

So proving to the world it’s not only one of the worlds fastest production cars ever to lap the ‘Ring, it’s now the most practical after receiving a full “fire engine” conversion.

That’s right, the car is fitted with a fire retardant tank fully consuming the rear passenger area, followed by a functional hose reel and equipment bay in the trunk. The car is also kitted out with a full roll cage and carbon fibre Recaro racing seats for safety. This is no joke!

What a waste of a perfectly good GT-R.

And how fast would it go with 50 liters of water in the back (a long with all the pumps and 20m of hose)? On the other hand, I would rather see one of the these coming round the corner than a Radical SR8 and a driver with a water pistol!

  6. | #6

    How so?

  7. | #7

This has to be the coolest fire engine ever made! I have visions of it screaming down the track at 150mph and power sliding around the stricken vehicle in one fluid motion while the hose reel slips out the back and douses the flames.

I am sure that’s how it works …..!

how to go faster with 50 liters of water in the back (well with all pomp and 20m hose); On the other hand, prefer one of these around the corner, as Radical SR8 and a driver with a water pistol!

  9. | #9

Wow! How dangerous is this sport! To go to this length indicates a high degree of probable fire risk !

  10. | #10

Tim, I agree with you, but wow it is cool and most men’s passion. I would personally like to get behind the wheel just once to feel the thrill!

This is surely one of the worlds most appealing jobs! Imagine getting paid to be a fireman in a GTR… The new one has just been announced too with over 500 bhp and LED lights so wonder if they will be upgrading? Maybe this one will be on ebay very soon…

Oh these cars! Are we aiming to beat the speed of sound! Human being are such wonderful creatures, we just do not know when to stop!

  13. | #13

Does it have sirens to go with the lights?

  14. | #14

I saw this when we went there this summer, it is awesome!

You’re welcome, Alex. The Speak Text one can be used only with typed text (put . (dot) and type text to Quicksilver).
It’s really fun to let your Mac speak the text, especially when you’re inside public library. He he…
