Top Gear Australia: Nissan GT-R Tested Minus Speed Limiter

June 24th, 2009

Back when Top Gear Australia first tested the Nissan GT-R the only model they could lay there hands on was a Japanese imported version with the Japanese mandated 180km/hr speed limiter. The car did great still managing a 1:09 lap time around their test track.

Of course it’s always good to see what a locally delivered model was capable of and recently they did just that.

Just wanted to point out that the GT-R they used has dark wheels which means they used the Bridgestones to achieve that time rather than the Dunlops that are available on the base model. Looks like there is more room to improve that time yet.

Also dont forget that the Aus spec GTR makes less power than the jap model so i recon with the dunlops and more power the GT2 would of been under it as well

Wonder what would happend if it was faster than the Porsche on that run? Maybe another big argument, which is actually faster in certain conditions :P
