Hennessey’s Next GT-R Upgrades Previewed – World’s Most Powerful GT-R?

June 12th, 2009

Proving that it’s not only the Japanese that can put together a complete turbo and manifold upgrade for the Nissan GT-R, John Hennessey has released the following preview video on Youtube. It shows the Hennessey Nissan GT-R with a fairly decent sized pair of GT30R strapped to the side in a high mount configuration. Also as you can see, to match the turbos they’ve fabricated a custom stainless manifold, custom stainless dump pipes and fitted up a pair of external wastegates.

The high mount location means they can fit up some nice short intakes which should lend themselves naturally to higher performance. Each GT30R can flow enough air for 500hp so, with two of them, look out because we could soon be knocking on the door of four digit hp Nissan GT-Rs.

485 hp gives about 3.5 sec 0-60. can anyone speculate what a >100% boost in hp will do? will the engine’s life span diminish considerably or not at all?

Hennessey is running the SSP clutch upgrades for this setup. With these turbos the car will be a little soft off the line, and this should help with the inital shock to the driveline that seems to actually hurt the GR6.

Pfitzner has their 1st gear upgrade, and there are other people working with the transmission to get it to be able to handle triple digit power figures. It will only be a matter of time.

i just drove a Porsche 996 turbo yesterday with GT30s on it that makes 850whp and it was so fast i was actually shaking when i got out of the car from the adrenaline surge it gave me. the GTR engine will surely make more power than this with the right supplimental mods and with the dual clutch tranny will define the term “stupid fast”. great success!

Wow Matt you must have had so much fun driving that, with all the adrenaline running through your body but have just felt amazing, there is nothing like taking a fast car for a test run and getting that kind of joy out of it.
