Nissan GT-R Nurburgring Record Update
Nissan’s success at the Nurburgring resounded throughout the motoring world today. With the goal of beating their previous best laptime set in April 2008 achieved the team is seen here celebrating. You can also see in this above photograph the actual car that was used in setting the laptime, a base model, Silver, Japanese specification car shod with SpecV wheels and Dunlop tires.
While the dust was settling on that achievement though the team was back out the next day trying again for a better time in the base model car. It was not to be however and the session was unfortunately rained out before a serious attempt at bettering 7:27.56 could be made.

NISSAN GT-R SNARES NEW NURBURGRING RECORD
The all-conquering Nissan GT-R supercar has set another lap record at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
A Japanese specification GT-R, running on Dunlop tyres with RAYS forged alloy wheels (V-spec equipment) recorded a blistering 7min 27.56 secs yesterday.
Driven by Nissan’s Chief test driver Toshio Suzuki (who recently demonstrated the GT-R to the Australian media in Sydney at Eastern Creek Raceway) piloted the performance coupe.
Although dry, the track surface grip was impaired by dust and sand.
Under the direction of Nissan GT-R Chief Vehicle Engineer, Kazutoshi Mizuno, and depending on conditions, the Nissan test team will attempt another record at the ‘Ring tomorrow.

are they going out to try again?
guess they’ll be waiting until next april to do it again.
what if next april it rains again? and suzuki won’t be as sharp? they should just sit there and wait for everything to be OK
I asked Nissan, but won’t be until Monday that I hear back
I’ll be waiting for the official video!
So no news on the spec-V time?
I’ll wait to see what the Porsche drivers time with the 2010 GTR is before commenting, for some reason Nissan’s clocks run much faster
I’m sorry, but I think you mean Nissan’s clocks run much slower, right? If clocks run much faster so the time showed here will be longer not shorter.
I feel that Porsche embarrassed themselves when they failed to drive the GT-R to it’s full potential on their home soil and then complain about it. This has now been doubly proven with this latest event.
It was one thing for Nissan to set a 7:29 laptime in 2008 after months of development at the ‘Ring but it’s an entirely different thing to go back 12 months later and with only a few days warm up, beat that laptime in a new setup.
I think the proof is in the pudding and Porsche were there to see it in person this time so… Porsche… over to you…
no fun in cheating. just like playing golf. i’d rather win fair and square.
Im with Aaron A on this one… WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE??!!!
Correct me if im wrong but isnt the SpecV supposed to be the lighter,
quicker, faster, more agile, more rigid, race-bred upgrade the the base,
black and premium model GT-R’s….?
WHERE THE BLOODY HELL’S ITS ‘RING LAPTIME???!!!!!
Did I hear right that it did a 1:02 around Tsukuba whereas the base did a 1:01? …somethings VERY wrong there, if thats true!
WHOOPS….Aaron N i mean!
@vspeciinur
precisely where is the spec v time they promised?
vspecii, u heard about the spec-v right about 1.02, but it was conducted in the rain. they did try again and it was full 1.4X seconds quicker!
try to get the correct info, you gotta dig for info!!!
