Nissan GT-R SpecV: Left Hand Drive Export Version
Here’s something we spotted on the most recent Best Motoring DVD yesterday while watching it. The first segment is the Nissan GT-R SpecV debut where we get an overview of the car. The main point that stuck out at me is that it’s a left hander. Since all models seen so far have been the Japanese domestic version I had to watch it again but sure enough it is a LHD SpecV.
Also note the carbon fibre rear centre section where the optional Bose subwoofers could live. This SpecV GT-R is specced minus the Bose system and comes with no subs at all.
The Ultimate Opal Black SpecV shown here is not a final production version yet but it does signal strongly that Nissan are preparing the SpecV for export. To where? Well so far all we know is NOT the United States so that leaves Europe, parts of Asia and the Middle East as the top three LHD markets.

Maybe just a one off for a vvip ? it wouldn’t be the first time.
I say it is a project car of someones who have taken the liberty to mod the GT-R in a way to pos as a Spec-V. Some people go a long way to do stuff like that! Look at some of the BMW M3′s in the states with all the CSL add-ons. Who would be able to tell it was not a tru CSL unless you knew what you were looking at under hood. Probably the same case here! Just my 2 cents!
You may call me a fanboy, but SpecV still sounds dumb to me.
This is most certainly a real preproduction SpecV. I don’t know the chassis number or anything but given the context. It is real.
Base model GT-R did the ‘Ring in 7:29, does anyone know what the SpecV did it in?
Are you fully sure this is a SpecV? Look at the exhaust tips, those are not the ones one would expect on a SpecV!

Look at the exhaust!!!! The Spec V has a different exhaust! Hmm… still confused on this one!
This is a pre-production SpecV as mentioned in the article. The exhaust is the only thing it’s missing. It’s carbon brakes, SpecV interior, SpecV carbon rear seats and SpecV wheels, SpecV brake ducts…
I could go on…
but looks the same to me…!!!!!

Nissan North America has released information to dealers today detailing upcoming changes to the 2010 Nissan GT-Rs ECU programming which improve acceleration with the VDC setting engaged. Integrated into this change however is a modification to the VDC system which essentially disables the Launch Control function of the car.
