Edmunds: Full Test US Spec Nissan 2009 GT-R

Edmunds got their hands on the new Nissan 2009 GT-R in full production US trim for a full test and test it they did. Worth a full read but here are the basic stats they extracted from their test car:

  • 3.5 seconds 0-60mph (0.1 seconds faster than their JDM test)
  • 11.7 seconds @ 116.8 mph 1/4 mile
  • 60-0mph in 98 feet (the shortest they’ve ever tested)

The GT-R goes on to get great marks in nearly all areas except maybe the ride comfort. Even in Comf mode “comf never comes…” Can’t please everyone but I think as far as US and Australian journalism goes a lot of guys are going to say this coming from softer sprung cars so it is no suprise. Personally I definitely did detect a night vs. day difference in the JDM GT-R on comf mode.

Comfort changes the dampening, it doesn’t change spring rates. People will never get that part of the whole equation. The JDM car was pretty stiff. I noticed a difference between normal and comfort on US roads.

Instead of “comfort” maybe “less hard” would have been a better label.
